Activity Creates Knowledge

Creating content merely for the sake of content, is easy to detect, and does not respect the time of the reader.

Writing is a creative process, and very much follows the arc of any creative process.

Readers look for clarity and insights when reading content.

To transfer clarity of thought into words, there needs to be immense clarity from the writer. There are two points of translation, the writer translates their thoughts and insights into words. Subsequently the reader needs to interpret the text while reading, and formulate it in their mind.

So, good content demands extreme clarity from the writer. You need to understand what you write about and be able to explain it in simple terms.

Considering content…

Creating content can be virtually instant; content can be scraped from the web very easily…Google a topic, take the top 5 articles, summarise, compose and there you have your own article. But it will lack authenticity, true value, it will not honour the time of your reader…and will not be your best work.

Good content is created when content is not merely created for the sake of content. Content needs to hold specific and valuable knowledge; content which people seek out, and bookmark, and come back to.

Content is created by activity, by work, over time. It starts with genuine curiosity, something the writer wants to understand and work on. This is followed by research, and building a working prototype which illustrates the practical concepts and so on. All of this creates unique, specific and quality knowledge.

Lastly, when we as humans observe or somehow take part in a creative process, we want to contribute and be part of that creative process. This happens with product design, music and many more mediums. This impulse leads to valuable feedback and contributors from users.
